Hericium erinaceus is aerobic fungi. Through respiration, it inhales oxygen, discharges carbon dioxide, decomposes organic substances, and generates heat. However, the air requirements of fruiting body and mycelium are different. Mycelium can tolerate higher carbon dioxide concentration and can grow normally in the air containing 0.3-1.0% carbon dioxide. The use of tampon or sponge double collars in the mycelium culture stage can effectively increase the oxygen supply and make the mycelium grow robustly; the fruit body growth stage is very sensitive to the concentration of carbon dioxide. If the ventilation is good and the oxygen is sufficient, the fruit body will grow rapidly. Mushroom-shaped good spore formation early. When the concentration of carbon dioxide in the air exceeds 0.1%, it will stimulate the mushroom stalk to branch continuously and form a coral-shaped deformed mushroom. Therefore, it is extremely important to strengthen the ventilation of the fruiting shed (room).
